Intro to Athletics Officiating - Mackay

Basics of Athletics Officiating Course

With such great athletics facilities in Mackay, why not consider a volunteer roll in officiating duties in the regions many athletics events offered by clubs, schools and organisations.

This course aims to explain a basic understanding of officiating and the rules around the many events that the sport of Track & Field brings. The course will include measurement techniques, timing, starts and recording. It is suitable for Club, School or Regional events, and participants should be at least 16yrs of age. There will be limit of 15 participants during any one session.

The course cost of $3.00 is payable before the session begins. Please note that this fee is the standard fee to access the facility and no part of this payment goes to any club or to the facilitator.  The course will be held at Mackay Aquatic & Retraction Complex, 193 Boundary Road, Ooralea, Mackay, between 6pm and 8pm.

Please bring a pen, note pad and a water bottle. A small handbook covering the basics of officiating will be provided free of charge. Information on how to further your knowledge and gain accreditation to level 1 or level 2 Athletics Australia Officials will be explained also. The rules will be based on IAAF rules. Note that different associations rules may differ slightly between each other so we encourage talking to your organisation if different rules apply.
